Beth Bialis, RP®, Paralegal, NFPA Advocacy Committee
Beth Bialis, RP®, earned her paralegal certificate in 1990 from the National Academy for Paralegal Studies, an ABA approved program and obtained her Registered Paralegal credential in 2012. Beth was a member of the Western New York Paralegal Association, Inc. (“WNYPA”) since 1996 and currently is a member of the Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association. Throughout her career Beth served the members of WNYPA in various roles on the Board of Directors and in 2010 was elected to the NFPA Board of Directors serving three years as Region V Director and two years as Vice President and Director of Profession Development. Beth also served as President of the Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations, Inc. for four years. Beth has over twenty-five years of experience as a paralegal and is currently employed as a Litigation Paralegal at Hall Booth Smith, P.C. in Buffalo, New York.


Donald Bristol, RP, Paralegal, MacElree Harvey, Ltd.
Donald P. Bristol, RP®, is an experienced Estates and Trusts Paralegal with more than 20 years' experience. He is a highly skilled in all aspects of complex estate and trust administration, including preparation of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware probate related forms and associated tasks, formal accountings and other court-related filings, preparation of state and federal death tax returns and gift tax returns, and preparation and filing of federal and state fiduciary income tax returns. Don previously served as Director of Region IV of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).  He also served as webinar coordinator for NFPA. Don is a long time member of the Chester County Paralegal Association. He received his Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Villanova University. Don maintains the PACE Registered Paralegal® (RP) credential. He obtained a Piano Performance Bachelor's Degree and Piano Pedagogy Master's Degree from West Chester University.



Kelley Chaney, Senior eDiscovery Paralegal, Ballard Spahr
Kelley Chaney is litigation paralegal with 33 years of experience across multiple practice areas, including real property. She is a certified eDiscovery Specialist (ACEDS) and active contributor to the EDRM, as well as a former NFPA CLE speaker and ITLA Ambassador. Kelley is a member of Women in eDiscovery. Ballard presentations/trainer for Clear Brief and Harvey.


Kristen Comstock, JD, Paralegal
Kristen Comstock, J.D graduated from the Catholic University of America with highest honors in 2009. She was admitted to the Montana bar (her home state) and practiced for several years in criminal and family law. After taking a detour as a nonprofit administrator, Kristen returned to the field of law, opening her own paralegal business. She now works primarily in civil litigation, particularly involving government regulations and individual rights. Kristen is a proud aunt and dog mom and spends her free time in the woods.

 
Brenda Cothary, Paralegal, Coordinated Care
Brenda Cothary is a paralegal at Coordinated Care in Tacoma, WA, where she focuses on regulatory filings and contract management.  Brenda has over 25 years experience as a paralegal, working in private practice, state government, and corporate legal departments.  She has experience in collections, bankruptcy, personal injury, administrative law and contracts.  Brenda has a bachelor's degree in political science and criminal justice from the University of Idaho and a master's degree in law from Champlain College.  She received her certificate in paralegal studies from Highline Community College.  She has served on the Tacoma Community College Paralegal Advisory Committee and the Washington State Bar Association's Limited License Legal Technician (LLLT) Board. She is a part time instructor in the paralegal program at Green River College. 


Elizabeth Deer, Paralegal, NFPA Advocacy Committee
Elizabeth Dear is a Board Member of the South Jersey Paralegals Association (SJPA) where she currently serves as the National Federal Paralegal Association (NFPA) Secondary Representative in District IV, the Committee Chair for the Professional Development Committee, and a member of the NFPA DEI Committee.   She will return to the SJPA Board for the 2025-2026 term as the Recording Secretary, NFPA Primary Representative in District IV, and Chair for the Professional Development Committee.



Julianne Di Benedetto, Executive Law Office Administrator/Senior Supervising Paralegal, Thinking Outside the Box Law, Inc.
Julianne M. Di Benedetto is the Executive Law Office Administrator and Senior Supervising Paralegal at Thinking Outside the Box Law in Naperville, Illinois, where she has worked since 2016. She manages firm operations and handles bankruptcy petitions, tax matters, accounting services, and business formations. Julianne is an IRS-registered tax return preparer, QuickBooks certified, and holds multiple credentials, including ILAP, NALA Certified Paralegal®, and American Alliance Certified Paralegal. She earned her associate degree with High Honors from the College of DuPage and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Lewis University. A recognized leader in the profession, she was named NALA’s 2021 Rising Star, has published in The Paralegal Reporter, and contributed to NALA’s certification exam materials. She actively mentors students, serves in leadership roles with the Chicago Paralegal Association and College of DuPage, and presents nationally on paralegal education, certification, bankruptcy, and legal writing.


Jennifer Echikson, Senior Paralegal, NFPA DEI Committee
Jenn Echikson has been a paralegal working almost exclusively in family law for 20 years and has been with Materese Family Law since its inception. Jenn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Peirce College and holds a Pennsylvania paralegal certification from the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations.  Jenn currently serves as Montgomery County Paralegal Association€™s Secondary Delegate to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations and is on the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee of NFPA. Jenn is also the President of the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations.  In addition, Jenn is a member of various community organizations, including serving as one of the Southeast PA Regional Leaders for Free Mom Hugs, as the Secretary for PFLAG West Chester/Chester County, Secretary of Soroptimist International of Phoenixville, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Phoenixville Public Library. 



Yen Florczak, Attorney, 3M Company
Yen T. Florczak is 3M’s Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Public Affairs and Legal Transformation, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, and Assistant Secretary for 3M Company.  She leads the global IP and Trademark teams that guide business opportunities and protect intellectual property. She advises the Public Affairs team and Legal Affairs’ Transformation efforts.  Yen is also the President of 3M IPC and Director of 3M Financial Management Company.  She is a member of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel, is an Executive Board Member and current Treasurer of the Intellectual Property Owners Association, is a Steering Committee Member for The Coalition for 21st Century Patent Reform, and Board Member on Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Board.


Christine Flynn, Paralegal, NFPA Advocacy Committee
Christine M. Flynn is a litigation paralegal at Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with 35 years of experience in the field. She is an active member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals (PAP) and the Philadelphia Bar Association.  Christine is a past president of the Philadelphia Association of Paralegals and currently serves as a Board Member and Chair of the Programs, Pro Bono and Legal Intelligencer Committees.  She also serves as Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee.  Christine is the Primary Representative to NFPA and has been appointed as NFPA Pro Bono Coordinator and Liaison to the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. She is also a member of the NFPA Access to Justice and Wellness Committees.  


Jaclyn Foster, Paralegal, Founder of The Paralegals in Business Society
Jaclyn Foster, author of Paralegals Should Be Millionaires, is a paralegal entrepreneur, educator, and industry disruptor on a mission to expand what’s possible for legal support professionals. Bathsheba Francis, Paralegal III, City of Atlanta
Bathsheba Francis is a Paralegal III with extensive experience supporting legal, regulatory, and corporate governance functions. She has a strong background in legal research, statutory analysis, drafting, and legislative monitoring. Bathsheba regularly collaborates with attorneys, business units, and compliance teams to develop clear, accurate documentation and support complex operational and regulatory initiatives. She is an experienced presenter and trainer on technology tools that improve legal workflows, including AI applications designed to support paralegals and legal professionals. Patrice Givens, Paralegal, NFPA DEI Committee
Patrice A. Givens is a Paralegal/Legal Assistant at Taft Law’s Columbus office. Patrice has 15 years of experience as a Paralegal and 2 years of experience in the Court system as a Deputy Clerk. She uses her hard work either, cooperative and positive attitude and tenacity to work collaboratively with clients, attorneys, government officials and others to drive home and deliver successful events. She received her undergraduate degree from Wilmington College of Ohio (B.A. in Business Administration, Management) and Paralegal Studies degree from Miami-Jacobs Career College. 


Angela M. Gonzalez, SBWCP, Paralegal, Ruder Ware, L.L.S.C.,
Angela M. Gonzalez, SBWCP, is a paralegal at Ruder Ware, L.L.S.C. in Wausau, Wisconsin, specializing in trust and estate administration with a focus on complex and tax-related matters. She holds a master’s degree from Jagiellonian University in Kraków and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London. Angela began her legal career in Budapest and has continued her paralegal work in the United States since 2009, with experience in civil litigation and corporate law, including due diligence and multinational transactions. A State Bar of Wisconsin Certified Paralegal, she has held leadership roles with the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Angela is also an active presenter, speaking nationally on probate administration, legal writing, and law office practices for organizations including NFPA, the State Bar of Wisconsin, and paralegal associations.

Carolina Heinle, Attorney, MacElree Harvey, Ltd
Attorney Carolina R. Evan Nelson, Attorney, Maslon LLP
Evan Nelson is a litigation attorney who represents clients in trust and estate disputes and real estate litigation. Kay Palacios, Paralegal, NFPA DEI Committee
Kay Palacios works at Nixon Peabody LLP  as a Paralegal supporting the Government Investigations & White Collar Defense Group. Kay brings over 14 years of comprehensive paralegal experience and comes to us from Cleveland, Waters and Bass, P.A., where they were a Litigation Paralegal. In this role, Kay drafted complaints, counterclaims, and other substantive legal documents and pleadings. They worked with a variety of litigation cases, and interviewed clients and witnesses as well as prepared summaries of interviews and depositions. Prior to this role, Kay was an Intern at Nicholson Law Firm, PLLC and an Operations Manager, Senior Paralegal, Paralegal Manager, and Paralegal Specialist for the U.S. Army.  Kay is currently earning their B.S. in Legal Studies from the American Military University and earned their A.S. in Paralegal Studies from New Hampshire Technical Institute.



Kristi Paulson, Founder and Attorney, PowerHouse Mediation
Kristi Paulson is the founder of PowerHouse Mediation and a nationally recognized mediator, arbitrator, attorney, and educator.  Drawing on decades of litigation and ADR experience, she helps attorneys, businesses, and individuals resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, and other innovative resolution processes.  A frequent speaker and trainer, Kristi presents on ADR, advocacy, communication, and dispute resolution strategies, providing practical insights that legal professionals can immediately apply in their work.



Tony Prakash, Senior Litigation Paralegal, Estavillo Law Group
Tony Prakash has completed training in NLP mindset and affirmations, which he incorporates into his daily personal and professional practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, a master’s degree from Trinity Law School, and a master’s degree from the McGeorge School of Law. Kevin Rhodes, Attorney, 3M Company
Kevin Rhodes is Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Affairs Officer and Secretary, overseeing the Company’s legal, compliance, and global security matters for 3M.  He leads a global Legal Affairs team that helps guide business opportunities, address enterprise risks, protect intellectual property, shape the development of law and policy, and strengthen compliance and security.



Scott Ruhsam, Attorney, Kennedy & Ruhsam Law Offices PA
Scott Ruhsam represents clients in matters of tax, business, estate planning, probate and probate administration. Prior to joining Kennedy & Ruhsam Law, Scott worked for a law firm in Bloomington, Minnesota where he practiced in estate planning and civil litigation. He also worked in government relations for a national non-profit organization, and served as inside general counsel for a midsize closely held business. Scott attended the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Scientific and Technical writing. He attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where he earned his Juris Doctor. Scott currently lives in St. Paul. Outside of the office, Scott enjoys coaching youth basketball, golf, and spending time with his wife.



Tracy Salwei, MnCP, Paralegal

Donald Shedd II, Paralegal, NFPA Advocacy Committee
Donnie Shedd is the current Region V Director for the National Federation of Paralegal Associations as well as a member of the NFPA Advocacy Committee. Donnie works as a Paralegal for the City of Manchester, NH Office of the City Solicitor. Donnie works for ten attorneys and handles a wide variety of matters, across multiple practices areas, including general criminal prosecution, domestic violence prosecution, juvenile matters, as well as civil practice areas including tax abatements, land usage, Exculpatory Evidence matters, contracts, as well as handling a host of other duties and responsibilities. Donnie graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2008 with Dual Bachelor-of-Arts Degrees in Justice Studies and Sociology, received his Certificate in Paralegal Studies from New Hampshire Technical Institute in 2016, graduating as Valedictorian, and received his Master of Science in Leadership as well as a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Organization from Granite State College in 2022. Donnie serves on the Paralegal Studies Advisory Board for Middlesex Community College and was recognized as a member of the New Hampshire Union Leader’s Class of 2024 of 40 Under Forty which recognizes 40 Granite State residents who eagerly give their time and talents to volunteer pursuits that strengthen and enrich communities all across New Hampshire.



Tony Sipp, Professor, College of the Canyons
Tony Sipp is an award-winning legal professional with 19 years of experience driving innovation and leadership in the legal industry. Recognized as 2024 Legal Professional of the Year by the California Lawyers Association, Tony is a published author, national speaker, and co-host of The Paralegal Voice podcast. Former President of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association and advocate for diversity, he now shapes the future of the profession as Member of the Paralegal Studies Advisory Committee and Adjunct Instructor at College of the Canyons.



Corrin Swintosky, Owner and Freelance Paralegal, Lucid Legal Support

Justice Paul Thissen, Minnesota Supreme Court
Associate Justice Paul Thissen was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 2018. Before his appointment, he worked at the Briggs and Morgan law firm doing complex business litigation and at Lindquist & Vennum doing transactional and regulatory work for healthcare and long-term-care clients. He also worked as a State Appellate Public Defender. While practicing, he served in the Minnesota legislature for 15 years, including as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Justice Thissen and his wife Karen have three children.



Angie Vohsing, Paralegal, NFPA Advocacy Committee
Angie Vohsing is an OSBA Certified paralegal with over 30 years of experience as a Paralegal. She received her Bachelor's degree from the Ohio State University and her Paralegal Certificate from Capital University Law School with highest honors. Angie is an active member of the Paralegals Association of Central Ohio (PACO). She previously served as Treasurer, Vice President/Membership Director, President Elect, and NFPA Secondary Representative. She currently serves as President, NFPA Primary Representative, and leads the Workers' Compensation Round Table. Angie also serves on the OSBA Paralegal Specialty Board. Angie joined the Employment Section of Eastman & Smith Ltd. in 2014 and serves as a Workers' Compensation and Litigation paralegal in its Columbus office. Prior to working at Eastman & Smith, Angie was a Legal Assistant at Scott, Scriven, & Wahoff LLP (now Scott Scriven LLP) providing support for 7 Workers' Compensation attorneys.

Theda Yandell, RP, Paralegal
Theda Yandell, RP® has over 37 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in the areas of personal injury, premise liability, property damage, product liability, complex litigation and malpractice cases. She has assisted in many trials in Washington State Superior Courts and Federal Court.  Theda received an Associate of Arts degree and an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree, Legal Assistance from Highline College, an American Bar Association accredited paralegal program. She is a member of the Highline College Paralegal Program Advisory Board and volunteers at the King County Bar Association Legal Clinics. Theda is the NFPA Director, Region I and was the Region I Director 2009-2014. She also served as NFPA Director of Profession Development 2019-2023. She has served on the Washington State Paralegal Association (WSPA) Board of Directors including WSPA President, Vice President, and Seattle Chapter Director.  In 2018, Theda received NFPA’s Paralegal of the Year Award for her on-the-job achievements and contributions to the paralegal profession.
