This CLE webinar explores how social media content may be identified, reviewed and documented as part of litigation support and case preparation. Designed for paralegals and litigation support professionals, the session covers common use cases, authentication considerations, preservation challenges and the role of human judgment in interpreting online content. Attendees will gain actionable guidance on how to integrate social media review into their day-to-day litigation support workflows.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain what open-source evidence is and how it applies in litigation
  • Identify the types of social media content that can support or clarify facts
  • Understand how to incorporate social media review into their workflow
  • Recognize limitations and risks of social media evidence

Key Takeaways:

  • Social media is a factual resource, not a shortcut
  • Early review can prevent missed timelines and contradictions
  • Documentation and context matter more than “gotcha” moments
  • Tools can help gather and structure data, but interpretation is always human

This session is for paralegals and litigation support professionals handling cases where a subject’s activity, lifestyle or condition may be in question. Examples focus on insurance- and work-related claims, but the concepts apply broadly across civil and criminal litigation, showing how social media insights can inform case evaluation, discovery and strategy.
