TENNESSEE PARALEGAL HEADS NFPA

The National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) is pleased to announce that its new president is Karen Belcher, RP, of Lebanon, Tennessee. Belcher brings both local and national experience to her new position. She has served on the NFPA Board of Directors for three years, before which she was chosen as Outstanding Local Leader of 1999 for her work as president of the Georgia Association of Paralegals. Says Belcher of her new responsibilities, "It is an honor to serve as President of NFPA, which has been a positive force in my life. It is through NFPA that being a paralegal has become a career choice, not just a job, and it is through NFPA that I have witnessed true professionalism, the art of compromise, and teamwork."

Continues Belcher, "It is through teamwork that the mission and goals of NFPA will be realized. The goals on which I will focus for the remainder of my term are membership growth, professional issues, and improved communication between the NFPA Board, the Coordinators, and all members of NFPA."

Other directors are Patricia Lyons, RP, with Edwards & Angell, LLP, of Providence, Rhode Island, Secretary and Director of Operations, and Victoria B. Kimbrough, CLA, with Gorsuch Kirgis, LLP of Denver, Colorado, Treasurer and Director of Finance. Representing the five regions are directors Dianna Smiley, RP, with Brekke & Angerer of Citrus Heights, California, Region I; Holly Manlove with Fort Dodge Animal Health of Overland Park, Kansas, Region II; Jane Phinney, RP, with Barnes & Thornburg of South Bend, Indiana, Region III; Thomas J. Bruno II with Lepley, Englman and Yaw, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Region IV; Marianne Alberino with Burns & Levinson, LLP, of Boston, Massachusetts, Region V; and Sally Andress, RP, with Barr Sternberg Moss Lawrence Silver & Saltonstall, P.C., of Bennington, Vermont, as NFPA Board Advisor.
