PACE FEE TO REMAIN LEVEL AFTER CLOSE OF GRANDPARENTING PERIOD
Paralegals at the grass roots, association level have spoken.
At the 2000 Spring Convention of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), delegates voted to retain the fee for taking the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE) at $225 after the grandparenting provision expires on December 31, 2000.
The decision reinforces that the fact that NFPA is a member-driven association. After debate, the delegates decided, by overwhelming concensus, to continue supporting PACE financially. Their objective was to keep the fee for a competency exam as low as possible. Persons who spoke in favor of retaining the current fee declared that, since PACE is a tool for the entire paralegal profession, each paralegal should pay the same fee to sit for the exam.
Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, NFPA is a non-profit professional organization representing more than 17,000 paralegals in the United States and Canada. NFPA is the national voice and the standard for excellence for the paralegal profession through its work on the issues of regulation, ethics and education.
