NATION'S CAPITAL HOSTS 2001 SPRING NFPA CONVENTION
The first policy meeting of 2001 of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) will be held in the nation's capital. The National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA) will host the spring convention at the Georgetown University Conference Center from April 19-22.
Highlights of the meeting will be the revelation of winners of the Judge William Robie Award, the Paralegal of the Year sponsored by CorpAmerica, Inc, and two West Group scholarships. Officers for the 2001-2002 board of directors will be elected.
Delegates from the 56 NFPA associations will meet as five regions and then gather for a two-day policy session. The topic of the professional concepts forum will be distance education, and association management workshops will focus on long-range planning and financial management.
Continuing legal education seminars include trademark primer, environmental law, how a law is made, the Supreme Court filing process, review of estates and trusts, mergers and antitrust, ethics, and the logistics of preparing to take the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE), the exam required to become a Registered Paralegal. The social event will feature a special tour at the Supreme Court and dinner at Mount Vernon.
